Orchard HouseAn Entrepreneurs retreat
Featuring the following products:
We were approached by a local entrepreneur who’s brief was to the point, music and TV throughout the home with everything being discreet and must not distract from the period features of his stunning country retreat. This meant the use of the best in hidden technology with the use of such items as a large Mirror TV from Neod and invisible in wall and in ceiling plaster over speakers from Stealth.
The multi-room audio was achieved with the use of Sonos throughout the home. Starting with the garden a pair of dual stereo SpeakerCraft speakers were fitted tight up under the eaves giving a great sound quality over a large area, and just to give it that extra impact for parties when the sound is turned up a couple of SpeakerCraft Bomb Tomb were dug into the flower beds adding an amazing bass response for an outside environment. Moving into the dinning area the use of the bright red Scandyna Minipods picked up on the theme of the kitchens accent red appliances giving a splash of colour while you eat. In the kitchen itself we went with a pair of Stealth LR8 speakers mounted in the walls and papered over when the kitchen was refurbished. This not only had the advantage of being invisible but also meant they did not have any speaker grills to get clogged up and greasy in the Kitchen environment. The use of Stealth and Sonos was also taken advantage of throughout the hall allowing the music to flow as you walk from room to room.
In the lounge above the fire place is a beautiful mirror TV by Neod. Unlike a lot of mirror TV’s that are either a poor mirror or a washed out TV picture, Neod gave him the best of both. Based on the latest screens by Loewe the client can choose between FreeView and FreeSat as well as being able to record direct to the TV’s built in recorder therefore cutting down on the usual clutter you would find in the living room. So as not to distract from the fireplace the latest ultra thin on wall cinema speaker package from Kef, the T205, was used to complement the high quality picture with high quality sound. These were then connected to a top of the range Pioneer receiver which was housed away inside a bespoke AV cabinet. As no equipment was on show we needed to control the whole system via an RF all in one remote control system by RTI. This enabled the client to use a one button push on either his dedicated touch panel remote or his iPad or even his iPhone to turn the whole system on and start enjoying his favorite films through an array of equipment including Apple TV, Mac mini and of course a Pioneer Blu-ray player. All the clients music and photographs were stored on a Xiva Music M8 enable his CD collection to be stored away in the loft while the Sonos distributed the music to any room in the house and the Network TV’s enabled him to browse his picture collection any time of the day or night.
In the bedroom again we used the invisible plaster in-wall Stealth speakers mounted into the ceiling either side of the bed, giving the best stereo sound imaginable and the TV was then housed inside an ottoman to be placed at the end of the bed. The screen then pops up out of the ottoman via the use of a TV lift made by Peerless and retracts away when not required, again all at the touch of a wireless remote control button.
All in all, a stunning system for a stunning house…
