If you're going to stand among giants, it's to your advantage to share as much of their DNA as possible. For Polaris, this meant starting with the tweeter and midrange from Alexandria.
The odyssey of inspiration and engineering which led to the creation of the Alexandria midrange driver is detailed here and here.
The tweeter also comes directly from the Alexandria Series 2. All tweeter diaphragms are acoustically semi-transparent. This means the tweeter back wave, reflecting off the enclosure baffle, will partially propagate through the diaphragm, adding an overlay of "grain" and distortion to the front waveform.

With the advent of Wilson’s Convergent Synergy tweeter in the Alexandria XLF, the Alexia, and now the Sasha W/P Series-2, it quickly became apparent that a Convergent Synergy tweeter version of the Mezzo was needed.
Wilson Audio’s Convergent Synergy tweeter was originally developed for the Alexandria XLF. During the development of the Convergent Synergy tweeter, Dave and the engineers tested a wide spectrum of tweeters fabricated with exotic materials such as diamond and beryllium. Each have their own unique qualities and virtues. Many exhibit flat frequency response, or are extended several octaves above the audible bandwidth. But none matched the dynamic contrast and harmonic expression of Wilson’s existing titanium design. But most importantly, none of them were an ideal match to our midrange driver.

The Center 3.s front baffle is angled upward, directing the sound more correctly at the listener's ears, especially important when the Center is mounted low, beneath a screen. The Center 3 utilizes X-Material in both tweeter and woofer enclosures. S-Material, Wilson's latest composite first used in the Sasha, now finds its place in the Center 3's mid-woofer baffle. The new cabinet minimizes enclosure resonances and enhances the Center's settling characteristics, allowing for better microdynamics and deeper shades of black.
