A network music player or server offers the best combination of high end hi-fi audio performance and convenience, allowing you to store your entire CD music collection uncompressed and browse it and replay it at the touch of a button at the highest possible hi-fi quality. Generally speaking network music players significantly outperform a similarly priced CD player, not to mention the convenience of being able to browse your entire collection without the need for all the CDs to be in the room. For example a Linn Majik DS costing £1800 will typically outperform CD players costing upto £3-4k.
Many network music players or streamers can be controlled from the convenience of the Apple iPod Touch/iPhone/iPad or android device. You can also use a network music player as part of a multi-room system to enjoy stunning quality music in the principle listening room. We often install for customers a Linn DS component in the Living room or music room and then use the Sonos system in the remaining non hi-fi rooms (kitchen, office, Bedroom, Bathrooms etc..). Both the Linn and Sonos share the same FLAC music files stored on an external ripping NAS (network attached storage) drive. Importantly this means there only need exist a single location where all your music is stored.

SN5210 S7 DigiLink
DigiLink works exclusively with the Systemline 7 NetLink audio player, as its main purpose is to provide NetLink with a dedicated digital audio connection from the server using a cat5/6 data cable. When DigiLink is used, the audio is no longer streamed over the Local Area Network, which is now used for control and web configuration only. DigiLink connects to the server via a USB cable, and so must be installed near to the server. NetLink can be up to 50 m away. KPS11 keypads can still be used with the NetLink zone but must be wired to the DigiLink unit.

Systemline S7 Netlink Music Player (SN6210)

The S7 Netlink Music Player uniquely integrates audio from a whole house S7 system with a surround sound AV Receiver system, often fitted in the living room. Netlink provides a high quality digital audio output up to 24bit 192kHz, and can control a compatible AV Receiver using the RS232 port, or by Ethernet TCP/IP switching it on, selecting the right input and controlling the volume. Major AVR brands such as Denon, Marantz, Onkyo and Yamaha are supported. Netlink can receive its audio stream over the network, but it is recommended to use Digilink which connects to the server via USB and transmits digital audio using a separate Cat5/6 cable for ultra-reliability and quality. The buttons on the front offer 1 touch selection of favourites and volume, or an in wall KPS11 keypad can also be connected to Netlink for convenient selection when entering the room. Netlink can also be used with a power amplifier such as S7 Netpower using the analogue outputs to create a very high quality stereo zone, with local input for TV sound.
