The phono stage amplifies the very tiny signal (between a few tens of microvolts and a few millivolts) from the phono cartridge to a line-level (about one volt) signal. This line-level signal can then drive a line-stage preamplifier, just as any other source component would.

Clearaudio Absolute Phono
A tiny circuit board installed in the headshell of the tonearm amplifies the highly sensitive output signal from the cartridge at its source. As a result, the signal to noise ratio is improved by approximately ten decibels across the entire audio bandwidth.
Clearaudio's Absolute Phono is the world's first active headshell moving coil phonostage. A tiny circuit board installed in the headshell of the tonearm amplifies the highly sensitive output signal from the cartridge at its source. Now the delicate signal only has to travel a few millimeters rather than along the usual 1-2 metres of internal and external arm wiring before being amplified to a more resilient level. This amplified signal then passes to the specially designed main RIAA phonostage, along a signal path free of the usual relays and coupling capacitors, which again enables a more clean, pure and accurate sound. The signal is then equalized and fed to both unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR outputs, each with its own output driver to ensure the utmost fidelity. The result? The signal to noise ratio is improved by approximately ten decibels across the entire audio spectrum.

Clearaudio Statement Phono
The Statement Phono is at home at the absolute top – where the air is thin, but the sound quality reaches its maximum density. From the deepest bass to the highest treble, from the additional bass octave of an imperial grand piano to the piccolo flute of a full church organ and beyond, the Statement Phono presents sounds exactly as they are. It takes nothing away and does not add anything, but embodies the ideal of pure music reproduction.

Audio Research Reference Phono 10 Pre Amplifier
Audio Research was proud to introduce the first two-chassis phono preamplifier in their history, the Reference Phono 10. This model number was designated because it mirrors its line-stage counterpart, the Reference 10, providing an unsurpassed level of performance in its category. The front panel has a 7” diagonal touch screen mounted asymmetrically, and only two buttons for power and mute. The interactive touch screen allows the user to change inputs (and input names), equalization, loading, gain, muting, foreground and background colors of the display, display intensity, and tube hours. Control functions are duplicated on the supplied metal remote. The front and side panels are 3/8” brushed and anodized aluminum, and the tops of both units are acrylic with a laser-cut perforation pattern (chosen for its sonic benefits).

Audio Research Foundation PH9 - Hybrid Phono Pre Amplifier
Foundation PH9 - New! Phono Preamplifier
The PH9 phono preamplifier is a great pairing with most cartridge and turntable combinations. A trio of 6H30 vacuum tubes are at the core of a simple and clear signal path to provide the most transparent preamplification possible. Five different impedance settings allow for cartridge loading, which can be changed on the fly with the included metal remote. Cartridge impedance, tube hours, auto shutdown, and other features are included in the menu system.

Pro-Ject Phono Box RS2
The Phono Box RS2 sets out to be the ultimate phono preamplifier, in the highest class. It is a fully discrete, fully balanced dual-mono device with split passive RIAA and DECCA equalisation, resulting in a “no expense spared” phono stage designed to achieve the best possible sound. It is also extensively adjustable, suiting it to any system, environment or personal listening taste.
After countless hours of listening tests and many years of experience, the Pro-Ject design team took the decision to employ discrete circuitry in the Phono Box RS2. Discrete circuits involve no operational amplifiers (op-amps), and the result is a more neutral, natural, dynamic, and vivid sound. They are more complicated to put together and involve a greater variety of components, but the result when utilised in a well-organised

Pro-Ject Phono Box DS
This ultra low noise phono preamplifier benefits from outstanding circuit technology from Dr. Sykora, well-known from Phono Box DS+, in a slimmed version with almost same sound quality, but without display and relais switching at a more favourable price. For the first time nearly all setup options can be made via front panel, what makes circumstantial handling of mini dip-switches or jumpers obsolete. Exceptional performance and flexibility with almost any MM or MC cartridge makes Phono Box DS the best choice in its price class. A subsonic filter, that prevents your amplifier and speakers of ultra low rumble below 20Hz, is positioned on the rear panel. Carefully selected amplifier modules and audiophile-grade capacitors guarantee a breathtaking sound experience. Therefore Phono Box DS is a perfect cost-effective upgrade for most high-quality hifi-systems.

A/D Box S2 Phono
•Phono stage with analogue-digital converter
•USB output for recording to a computer
•Additional Line input
The A/D Box S2 Phono has been designed as an affordable, effective tool for digitally archiving your precious analogue media.
Being able to take digital audio back-ups of vinyl records or analogue tapes allows you to preserve your precious music, and also take some of your favourite analogue-only tracks with you on the go. By recording to a computer you can also use special software tools to remove unwanted pops, clicks or crackles. The A/D Box S2 Phono achieves this by converting Phono or Line level inputs to a digital USB data stream for a Windows, Apple or Linux computer to handle.

Pro-Ject Power Box RS Phono
When Power Box RS Phono is connected to Phono Box RS and switched ON, only the accus are connected (adapter and charger are physically disconnected) so Phono Box RS is completely isolated from mains interferences. When accu voltage decreases and reaches certain limits, further playback will be a danger for status of the battery, the charger is automatically connected. This status is indicated by LED on the front panel. Everything continues without any limitation and playback is possible, but the advantage of completely isolating for the charging period is lost. Even if the biggest advantage is temporarily not available, the battery now works as very big filtration bank and the sound is still far better than in case of using the standard power adapter. When accu is fully charged, the charger is disconnected and again Power Box RS Phono powers Phono Box RS only from accu packs.

AVID Pulsare II Phono Stage
'The difference between simply listening to music and experiencing it.'
This was our design goal, because over the years, the many phono stages we have listened too, whilst offering excellent technical performance, lacked that something that makes the music sound and feel real. We call it 'shear power'. Its that feeling of presence, solidity and drive that separates just listening to a HiFi system with the feeling of being in the presence of the performance.
