A pre amplifier or pre-amp is the very hub of a hi-fi system. All your source equipment connects to the pre amplifier. Most common is an active (powered) preamplifier design but there do exist some passive (non powered) designs. Using a separate pre and power amplifier brings about significant audio improvements over an integrated design as it minimises crosstalk and each component benefits from its own dedicated power supply.

Aesthetix Saturn Eclipse Series: Janus Eclipse Pre-Amplifier
JANUS ECLIPSE
First phase: Internal changes to the Janus start with .22uF / 600v Stealth coupling capacitors used between the second and third gain stages, and the third gain stage and output stage of the phono section. Two more are used between the gain stage and output stage of the line section, per channel. Twelve total of these exotic capacitors are used.
There are four 2uF / 400v coupling capacitors used in each channel of the output stage of the Janus. In the Eclipse version, these are replaced with Stealth copper foil 4uF/400v, improving low frequency response.

Aesthetix Saturn Signature Series: Janus Signature
JANUS SIGNATURE
The Signature version uses custom-made inter-stage Teflon hybrid coupling capacitors, replacing the polypropylene units, between the gain stage and output stage (2 per channel). The change in these capacitors results in higher resolution, extension, less grain and more air. The 2uF output coupling capacitors (4 per channel) are replaced with 4uF Dynamicaps. This change provides more drive, bass extension, resolution and dynamics while also reducing grain.

Quad Artera Pre - Pre Amplifier
Quad Artera Pre
The Artera Series' first dedicated preamplifier sees the return of Quad's much-admired analogue sound tailoring controls.
The new Artera Pre from Quad, Britain's original high-end audio company, draws upon the company's rich technical heritage whilst being a design firmly of the present. The first dedicated analogue preamp to join Quad's Artera Series, the company's flagship range of solid-state audio electronics, the Artera Pre reintroduces a famous Quad feature - the Tilt control.

Avantgarde XA-PRE (XAPRE) Pre Amplifier
XA PRE
Who seriously resolves to rethink a matter, always has to start with the most difficult question of all. The question "Why?" Why do all conventional amplifiers have to battle with cross-zero distortions? Why are there no truly satisfying solutions to fight the contaminations of the public mains system? Why does one allow that electronic components resonate and thus distort the sound? And last but not least: Why do amplifiers all look alike? Questions which are still open and which served us as the starting point of likely one of the most ambitious projects in the history of amplification technologies: the XA PRE.

Plinius Reference M-10 (M10) Pre Amplifier
Reference M-10 Preamplifer
The Reference M-10 is an entirely new, fully discrete, dual mono preamplifier, designed from the ground up. It is the culmination of decades of experience and the constant pursuit of excellence in electronic design.
The Reference M-10 is testament to Plinius’ relentless quest to produce a preamplifier that reveals extraordinary audio detail. At this crucial beginning of the signals journey low value, audio grade resistors are used to minimise noise and, when combined with the adjustable gain feature result in sound without distortion or unnecessary colour, this is pure, powerful sound.

Plinius P100 Phono Pre Amplifier
P100 Phono Preamplifier
This compact little unit packs a powerful punch. Delivering on style as well as acoustic performance, the P100 joins the Plinius range, proving that good things really do come in small packages...
The Plinius P100 Phono Preamplifier boasts the clean lines and minimalism synonymous with the Plinius aesthetic. The sleek curved chassis is left bare with the exception of a blue LED indicator and Plinius branding.

Plinius Koru Phono Pre Amplifier
Koru Phono Preamplifier
The Koru phono preamplifier is presented in the Ross Stevens inspired curved chassis, with a slight twist. The chassis is actually two-in-one, allowing physical separation of the power supply from the amplification circuitry.
The power supply boasts a virtual battery approach with over 100,000 micro Farads of capacitance and very sophisticated 2 stage regulation. This ensures the lowest impedance and consequently extreme accuracy of power delivery to the amplification stages.

Plinius Kaitaki Pre Amplifier
Kaitaki Preamplifier
While the Kaitaki preamplifier mates aesthetically and musically with the Plinius P10 power amplifier this exciting preamplifier is the perfect partner for the Plinius SA103 power amplifier used either as a stereo amplifier or in a monoblock configuration.
Visible controls on the Kaitaki are the rotary volume knob and source selection buttons with all other functions driven from the distinctive Plinius remote control. LED indicators on the front panel display demonstrate the source selected and status of the mute, phase and HT bypass functions.
