A subwoofer or a sub is a loudspeaker dedicated to reproducing low-frequency audio or bass. The typical frequency range for a subwoofer is about 20 to 200 Hz and below 80 Hz in THX-approved systems. Subwoofers are often used to augment the low frequency range of loudspeakers covering higher frequency bands only, such as satellite loudspeakers. With satellite loudspeakers becomming more popular and their physical size ever decreasing subwoofers play an important role in giving home cinema systems their full range sound. Passive subwoofers have a subwoofer driver and enclosure and they are powered by an external amplifier. Active subwoofers are more common and include a built-in amplifier.

Expanding the Procella subwoofer lineup in a slim, compact profile, the P15A is available in both black and white finishes. The active subwoofer drives its single 15 inch woofer with an onboard 350 Watt power amplifier. That 15 inch pro audio woofer driver features a 3 inch voice coil and cast aluminum chassis. The built in Procella-designed amplifier delivers 350 Watts of class-D power, enabling the subwoofer to deliver 119 dB of output at 50 Hz. For room-shaking low frequencies, the P15A extends down to a -3dB point of 24 Hz. Both XLR and RCA inputs are provided, and switchable room settings optimize the subwoofer’s response for room boundary conditions. The amplifier’s unique standby operation mode ensures that the subwoofer is activated from sleep mode before the program material begins. The P18 has long been the standard for low frequency reproduction. But for some, even the P18 wasn't enough! For them, we created the V18 Bass Engine. Producing 137 dB of continuous output and a peak output of 143 dB, this is truly the new reference standard for subwoofers. In an impressively massive, deep enclosure (unlike the slim P18), Procella's unique V-Loaded driver configuration produces coupling and compression loading between the drivers, resulting in lower distortion, improved transient response, and reduced cone excursion at high SPL. Its twin 18 inch long-throw pro audio subwoofer drivers have Neodymium magnets and 4 inch voice coils, with added aluminum demodulation rings to decrease distortion. A true subsonic generating engine, its response extends to 18 Hz at high output levels. The V18 requires external power using the rack-mounted Procella DA-06DSP power amplifier, which delivers 1,200W continuous to each driver.
