Aesthetix is the brain child of engineer and music lover Jim White. Avid concert-going from the age of 10 and a well read subscription to Stereophile at age 13 were the early hints of what would become a life consuming obsession with music and vinyl playback. After advanced studies in physics, mathematics and electrical engineering, Jim began honing his skills in 1990 at Theta Digital. His contributions to the Theta Casablanca and Dreadnaught were his first examples of outstanding design.
Analog remained Jim's true hi-fi passion, and in 1993 work on a massive tube phono stage began in his garage. Audiophile friends who heard the first homemade unit urged him to build more and thus Aesthetix was born.

Janus is a full-function all-tube preamplifier with six line level inputs and one phono input. Janus represents the key features of Rhea phono stage and Calypso linestage combined into a single chassis. All tube amplification and output, a fully balanced linestage, discrete switched resistor volume control, versatile single-ended and balanced inputs and outputs, and dual-mono audio boards are all part of Janus. The full function remote controls all preamp and phono functions, including gain, loading, absolute phase and the internal demagnetizer. Aesthetix Saturn Signature Series: Atlas Signature
|

Atlas Stereo Signature Power Amplifier
Atlas Stereo Signature uses the same circuits as the standard Atlas Stereo, but those circuits are implemented with only the highest quality parts available. The Mono Signature version dedicates the entire power supply to one channel, increasing space, drive and dimensionality. The standard versions of Atlas use very high quality Rel-Caps as inter-stage coupling capacitors, while the Signature upgrades these with Peter Moncrief's Stealth capacitors, costing over 10 times as much. These provide more detail and information, while maintaining the same award-winning tonal balance. High current output stage power supply capacitance is doubled, increasing bass drive and solidity. Binding post wiring is upgraded to specialized audiophile 14 AWG, which further increases resolution. Another critical refinement is the replacement of all emitter resistors with a specialized metal foil low-inductance type.

Aesthetix Saturn Eclipse Series: Rhea Eclipse Phono Stage

RHEA ECLIPSE
First phase: Internal changes to the Rhea start with .22uF / 600v Stealth coupling capacitors used between the second and third gain stages, and the third gain stage and output stage. Eight total of these exotic capacitors are used.
There are four 2uF / 400v coupling capacitors used in each channel of the output stage of the Rhea. In the Eclipse version, these are replaced with Stealth copper foil 4uF/400v, improving low frequency response. This capacitor is also used between the first and second gain stages.

AESTHETIX COUPLING MODULE (ACM)
The Metis linestage utilizes highly proprietary Aesthetix Coupling Modules (ACMs) in place of traditional coupling capacitors. "I have been dreaming of this design for 20 years," says Aesthetix founder and engineer Jim White. It is well known that capacitor quality is directly correlated with sound quality, and Aesthetix has a history of investing heavily in pushing the boundaries of capacitors. But Jim wondered, "Could even better sound quality be realized if capacitors were eliminated entirely?" The answer is yes, according to Metis, which uses an ACM in each channel between the gain and output stages and no interstage or output coupling capacitors. ACMs produce constant output impedance across all audio frequencies, while a standard capacitor’s output impedance rises as frequencies drop often yielding tubby bass and other sonic degradation. In contrast, the ACMs in Metis result in a sound stage with incredible added depth, dimension and resolution.
