In the early 1980s Audiolab was founded by audio enthusiasts Philip Swift and Derek Scotland. The launch of their very first product, the 8000A Integrated Amplifier in 1983, was born out of their frustration that decent audio equipment appeared too expensive. In 1997, the company was bought by TAG McLaren. Though there were major upgrades in the products themselves, they also became more expensive, which didn’t sit well with critics. In 2004, the brand was transferred to IAG, which gave it back its Audiolab name and slimmed down the product line-up, maintaining all of the improvements in engineering and giving a fresh look to the classic no-nonsense Audiolab style. At present, Audiolab continuously seeks to achieve excellence in the quality and performance of its products whilst keeping true to its founders’ philosophy of creating well-engineered components that offer high performance sound quality and offer exceptional value.

Audiolab M-DAC Digital to Analogue Converter
Audiolab M-DAC - Standalone DAC (Digital to Analogue Converter) Having been the missing piece in Audiolab’s arsenal since the release of the award-winning 8000DAC in 1992, the M-DAC has a smart styling and solid build, with ample connectivity. Alongside the USB input with asynchronous data processing, there are two each of coaxial and optical digital inputs, while you can choose from optical, coaxial, RCA single-ended and XLR balanced audio outputs. A high quality Class-A headphone amplifier is also built in to satisfy the headphone fanatic. A wand like remote control handset allows you to switch inputs, select from preset digital filters and alter the display. The large clear screen allows you to see what input is being used and the sample rate being received. High-res 24-bit/192kHz music files can be played on the M-DAC via the coaxial input, while optical and USB inputs support 24-bit/96kHz data.
