JVC, established in Yokohama, Japan in 1927 is a global brand of high-quality audio and visual products and technologies, including camcorders, 3D projectors, home and automotive sound systems and headphones. JVC quickly became a leader in high-quality sound through the manufacture and sale of Victrola phonograph players, followed by radios, EP/LP records, Japan’s first single-groove stereo record player, hi-fi speakers and four-channel stereo records. JVC played an important role in the development of television with the help of Kenjiro Takayanagi, the father of Japanese television, commercialising the country’s first black-and-white and then colour TV models. In 1976, JVC introduced the world’s first VHS format video recorder. Other JVC firsts include the single-unit video camera/recorder in 1984, the pocket-sized digital video camcorder in 1995 and Everio hard-drive camcorders in 2004.
