For over 30 years Ruark have worked within the UK audio industry creating high quality loudspeaker systems for music and audio enthusiasts alike. Their loudspeaker brand Ruark Acoustics has long been sought after and admired world-wide.
In 2004 Ruark made a radical decision to diversify and apply their expertise to design a small range of high quality radio based products. At the time they chose to call this development ‘Vita Audio’ in order to separate from their loudspeakers, but now in 2012 with their future plans laid out and with interest growing faster than ever expected, they felt the time is right for all products to be brought under one banner with the long-standing heritage of our company name ‘Ruark’ attached.
Since launching in November 2006 their radios have quickly become recognised as the finest available winning numerous accolades and awards. Most memorably the Sunday Telegraph described the R1 as: the Aston Martin of DAB radios.

Elegant and beautifully simple, the new R1 is the third generation of our iconic table radio which started the Ruark Audio story and marked our transition from manufacturing Hi-Fidelity loudspeakers, to quality compact audio systems.
At first glance, the new R1 appears remarkably similar to its predecessors, but look closely and you will see that everything about it has been refined. Our updated ‘RotoDial’ control system looks slick, and combined with the latest OLED display, provides a control interface which is clear and intuitive to use. The enclosure retains the same attractive dimensions, but with new lacquer finishes and a crisper design for the front and rear panels, the craftsmanship and desirability of the new R1 has been raised to an even greater level.
