Britain has long been recognised throughout the world as being the home of loudspeaker technology in terms of innovation and quality. This reputation has built up over many years by some of the world’s most famous loudspeaker manufacturers. Wharfedale, established over seventy years ago has always been at the forefront of developing this reputation. In 1932 Gilbert Briggs built his very first loudspeaker in the cellar of his home in Ilkley, Yorkshire. This sleepy little market town was located in the valley of the river “Wharfe” – an area known to this day as ‘Wharfedale’. This unlikely location would see the birth of a brand that was to become recognised all over the world, synonymous with quality in high-fidelity reproduction.

Wharfedale’s new EVO4 has grown out of the extensive research and development that produced the ELYSIAN flagship loudspeakers and borrows much of the technology involved in ELYSIAN.
The primary focus is on the AMT development resulting in a radically different way of reproducing high frequency detail efficiently and accurately. Similar cabinet technology to ELYSIAN provides a stable and solid foundation for the drive units with radiused edges to help integrate the driver output with the room acoustics. In addition the unique SLPP bass reflex system, as developed for ELYSIAN, is now incorporated in EVO4.

The trimless exterior design on WCM models with magnetic micro-perforated grilles guarantees a seamless blend between wall or ceiling and speaker. While externally the speakers are simplistic and discreet, advanced drivers and crossover networks are housed within. The rigid polypropylene bass driver paired with an ultra-durable, high-excursion rubber surround guarantees stability under high pressure and extensive bass output. Titanium dome tweeters with highly efficient neodymium motor systems complete each speakers’ wide frequency response with a scintillating high frequency and wide dispersion (with a rotatable tweeter on WCM models for optimised positioning).
