CD STATMAT
Sound specialist Ringmat Developments is proud to announce what it claims to be the biggest advance in CD reproduction since compact discs were introduced in 1983. The STATMAT electrostatic control system is designed to enhance the reproduction quality of CD recorded music. STATMAT eliminates the problem of low-level voltage surges, by evening out the electrostatic charges which build up during play. This results in greater resolution and separation, a wider, deeper soundstage, enhanced power and dynamics and an overall cleaner, crisper sound.
The size and shape of a standard compact disc, STATMAT is simply placed on the CD in the tray. Unlike competitive products, no treatment of the disc itself is necessary. Moreover, its lightweight material ensures that the transport mechanism does not suffer from any additional weight.
Developed over five years by sister company QR Design - in collaboration with DNM Design - STATMAT is the brainchild of sound consultant John Rogers. He says: "CDs revolve at high speed in a dry, closed environment with relatively high temperatures. This causes a build-up of electrostatic fields which can distort the phase of the signal from the CD to the speakers. Such phase anomalies result in a degradation of the sound quality. STATMAT addresses this problem by evening out the low-voltage 'hot spots', ensuring that the reproduction is as true as possible to the original recording. " STATMAT is coated with a unique pattern of specially formulated conductive inks which level out the electrostatic fields around the CD, ensuring that the signal recreated by the digital circuitry is phase-correct before it is sent to the speakers. Therefore, as the signal suffers no phase distortion, the resultant sound is more vibrant, with an improved sense of timing and rhythm, clearer intonation and enhanced imaging.
A vital addition to any music lover's equipment, STATMAT can be used with most CD players, midi, mini and other packaged systems and portables.
STATMAT MkII CDi
The single film version of STATMAT is now in its third generation as STATMAT MkII CDi.
The single film version is useful for those transports where the extra thickness of the CDi Blue may cause a problem. This is often the case with those transports (CD-ROM, DVD-ROM etc.) used for computer systems. They also provide a lower cost entry system for the STATMAT concept.
STATMAT PLUS
STATMAT PLUS is the latest STATMAT for CD, DVD, SACD and CD-ROM players
It is another single film version of the standard STATMAT MkII CDi but has a re-peelable adhesive collar around the centre hole on the underside of the film.
PLUS is ideally suited to CD, DVD, SACD and CD-ROM players that use drawer-loading mechanisms, but is equally as effective with other types of players. Accordingly, all references below to CD also include DVD, SACD, CD-ROM and all other digital disc formats of the same shape and size.
As with other CD STATMATS, STATMAT PLUS still cannot be used with most multi-play CD players, nor with most in-car CD players.
The re-peelable adhesive collar around the centre hole on the underside of the film provides fixed contact with the CD. This results in the Statmat film staying firmly in position during play and, with drawer-loading mechanisms, still staying in place on the CD as the tray opens and closes. This is an important part of the design, as its purpose is to re-assure users that the STATMAT will stay with the CD at all times and will not become detached whilst in the player.
After play, the film lifts off the CD with ease, for re-use with the next CD. As with other STATMATS, STATMAT PLUS can also improve the picture for home cinema systems.
Obviously, it is important to handle STATMAT PLUS with care to ensure that fluff, hairs, etc., do not come into contact with the adhesive collar, as otherwise it may no longer adhere to the disc. For storage, shiny release liners are provided to protect the adhesive collar.
A special exchange price is available on the next STATMAT PLUS for when the adhesive collar is no longer effective.
Whilst sound quality using PLUS is superior to that of the standard STATMAT MkII CDi, the CDi Blue remains the leading performer in this field.
STATMAT CDi BLUE
The CDi BLUE is a new and far more powerful Statmat for controlling static and other unwanted electronic fields and for correcting signal anomalies. It comprises two Statmats working together at 90º to each other and on different sides of a blue polyester substrate of 0.1mm. The Statmat on top is a mirror image of the standard one below and is connected to the substrate at three equidistant points. The one below is connected at two points.
The greater mass of the CDi BLUE makes it much easier to handle, yet it is only 0.25mm thick and weighs just 1.8g.
STATMAT CDi BLUE PLUS
STATMAT CDi BLUE PLUS is a new and far more powerful Statmat. Like the Award Winning standard CDi Blue, it comprises two Statmats working together at 90º to each other and on different sides of a 0.1mm blue polyester substrate. The Statmat film on top is a mirror image of the standard one below.
However, STATMAT CDi BLUE PLUS differs from the standard CDi Blue in the following 3 ways:
The Statmat film below the 0.1mm blue polyester substrate has been cut slightly differently.v
Both the top and lower films are connected to the substrate at 3 equidistant points instead of at just 2 points in the case of the lower film of the standard CDi Blue.
As with the single film Statmat CDi PLUS, the CDi BLUE PLUS has a re-peelable adhesive collar around the centre hole on the underside of the Statmat. This ensures fixed contact with the disc so that the Statmat stays firmly in position during play and (with drawer loading mechanisms) when the tray opens and closes. However, the Statmat lifts off the disc with ease for re-use with the next disc.
As with all Statmats, there is a special exchange/upgrade price for existing users. Please contact your local Ringmat supplier.
It is important that the re-peelable adhesive collar around the centre hole on the underside of the lower film maintains its adhesive properties. Therefore, care has to be taken not to drop the Statmat onto the carpet or to place it on any surface from which it can attract hairs and other particles. Also, care has to be taken that the disc to be played is clean and that greasy fingerprints have not contaminated it. Moreover, that any such greasy particles have not contaminated the clamp.
